In 1987, Mrs. Evelyn Nwamaka Orekie was teaching an Early Childhood Education in a professional service in education programme [PSE programme] at the University of Lagos when she was confronted by students who said that a theory she put forward to them could only work at selected places like Victoria Island, Ikeja, Surulere etc. but would not work in places like Ajegunle, Shomolu etc. She then decided to put the challenge to test and in 1988, she got a space at number 1 Akpata Street to start Saint Gregory Nursery School which operated at the building till 1990 when it was transferred to No. 8 as Engreg International School. In 1993, she got her operational approval from the Ministry of Education, Lagos State.
